Backing Up data from various Programs

ZipBackup can backup data from almost any program you use on your Windows Computer, as long as ZipBackup knows where to find the data. Below are instructions for backing up data from some popular programs.

Microsoft Outlook
You will need to backup the file outlook.pst. The default location of outlook.pst depends on your version of Windows. Make sure you exit Outlook before trying to backup your Outlook Data. ZipBackup can not backup Outlook files that are open.

Windows Vista
Outlook files are located in the folder
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst.
Selecting "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" on the Backup Job page, will include the Outlook files in your backup.

Windows 2000 or Windows XP
Outlook files are located in the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst.
Selecting "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" on the Backup Job page, will include the Outlook files in your backup.

Windows 95/98/ME
Outlook files are located in the folder
C:\Windows\Profiles\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst.
Make sure this folder is included in your backup be selecting it on the Backup Folders page of the ZipBackup Wizard.

Windows Mail for Vista
Windows Mail for Vista files are stored in the folder
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail.
Selecting "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" on the Backup Job page, will include the Outlook files in your backup.

Microsoft Outlook Express
Microsoft Outlook Express files are stored in different locations depending on your version of Windows.

Windows 2000 or Windows XP
computers, Outlook Express files are located in the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities.
Selecting "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" on the Backup Job page, will include the Outlook Express files in your backup.

Windows 95/98/ME
Outlook Express files are located in the folder
C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities
Make sure this folder is included in your backup by selecting it on the Backup Folders page of the ZipBackup Wizard.

Microsoft Office
Microsoft Office files, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Publisher are stored in My Documents by default. Make sure to select "Backup My Documents", "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" in the Backup Job page of the ZipBackup Wizard to include Office files in your backup.

Quicken
Recent versions of Quicken store files in a folder named Quicken under your Documents folder. Quicken's data should be included in any backup that includes your documents.
Prior versions of Quicken located data in the same folder as the Quicken Program, C:\Program Files\Quicken. If your data is located in the Quicken program file, we recommend you move it to a folder under your Documents folder for easier backup.
See the QUicken help file for more information about moving Quicken data files.
If you move your Quicken Files to the My Documents folder, you can include Quicken data in your backups by selecting "Backup My Documents", "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" in the Backup Job page of the ZipBackup Wizard.

Microsoft Money
Microsoft Money files are stored in the My Documents folder by default. Make sure to select "Backup My Documents", "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" in the Backup Job page of the ZipBackup Wizard to include Money files in your backup.

QuickBooks
QuickBooks files are located in the same folder as the QuickBooks Program, C:\Program Files\Intuit\Quickbooks. Make sure this folder is included in your backup be selecting it on the Backup Folders page of the ZipBackup Wizard.
You can also move your QuickBooks file to your My Documents folder by copying the file YourCompany.qbw (with YourComapny replaced by the actual name of the .qbw file) to My Documents and selecting File > Open Company from the QuickBooks menu, and opening the YourCompany.qbw file in My Documents.
If you move the company to your My Documents folder, you can include QuickBooks data in your backups by selecting "Backup My Documents", "Backup My Files and Settings" or "Backup all users Files and Settings" in the Backup Job page of the ZipBackup Wizard.
