Logging ZipBackup Assumptions

ZipBackup has the ability to create a log file that keeps track of many of the assumptions ZipBackup makes as it runs. This log file is helpful when trying to determine the cause of problems or misperceptions.

ZipBackup can create log files with two levels of detail. Using the log option will log actions ZipBackup performs. Including detailed status information creates log files that are much larger than standard log files and may slow ZipBackup down significantly. Including detailed status information should only be used to track down specific problems.

Creating the Log File

ZipBackup will create the log file C:\Program Files\ZipBackup\ZBLog.txt. If one of our help desk people has asked you to send the log file, you can attach this file to an email. The ZBLog.txt file can get pretty big, so you may want to Zip the file before sending it.
